Position: Procurement and Logistics Officer at Water Mission (Location: Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania)

Job Opportunity at Water Mission: Procurement and Logistics Officer

Opportunity Overview: Under the supervision of the Finance Manager, the Procurement and Logistics Officer will be responsible for overseeing procurement and logistics functions across regions, adhering to established standards and procedures. This position, based in Dar Es Salaam, requires strong planning, organizational, and coordination skills. The role emphasizes a commitment to providing accurate data, cultivating a mindset that views mistakes as opportunities for solutions, and consistently striving for excellence aligned with Water Mission’s mission, vision, statement of faith, values, and standards.


Procurement Operations:

  • Guide projects in defining steps for goods/services procurement, including training staff on procurement procedures.
  • Handle shipments from HQ, ensuring timely clearance.
  • Plan, draft, and implement the annual procurement plan.
  • Ensure procurement completion, documentation, and prompt delivery to end-users.
  • Send requests for quotations and purchase orders to suppliers.
  • Compile relevant supporting documentation and ensure adherence to procurement procedures.
  • Establish and maintain a supplier pipeline, overseeing logistical aspects, goods storage, and movements.

  • Support regional procurement teams in handling receipts, storage, and issuance of items/commodities.
  • Collect and share monthly stock counts with the Finance Manager.
  • Anticipate transportation needs and arrange shipments to IDS field sites.
  • Prepare necessary documents for goods transportation.
  • Draft service contracts with transportation companies when needed.
  • Ensure timely offloading of supplied inventory at warehouses.
  • Conduct monthly physical count of all inventory items.
  • Maintain ledger records and stock/bin cards.
  • Prepare precise weekly, monthly, and yearly stock reports.
  • Conduct periodic physical inventory counts with the Finance team.
  • Support field teams in maintaining inventory records.

Fixed Assets and Inventory Management:

  • Ensure timely offloading of supplied inventory at warehouses.
  • Prepare and update the fixed asset register.
  • Support regional procurement teams in inspecting warehouses and reporting any maintenance needs.
  • Ensure proper warehouse security.
  • Maintain accurate ledger records and stock/bin cards.
  • Prepare daily reports of incoming and outgoing items.
  • Assist in preparing accurate stock reports.

Key Performance Indicators:

  • Consolidated Procurement Plan in place.
  • Prequalification of suppliers.
  • Contracts management.
  • Timely procurement of goods and services.
  • Timely payment of suppliers.


  • Alignment with Water Mission’s Statement of Faith and core values.
  • Impeccable integrity in handling funds transparently.
  • Fluent in English and Swahili.
  • University degree in Procurement and Logistics.
  • At least two years of experience in procurement and logistics management.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Proficiency in MS Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint).
  • Personal and growing relationship with Jesus Christ.
  • Excellent project management and relationship skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
