The Tanzania Fisheries Research Institute (TAFIRI) is inviting applications from qualified Public Servants interested in transferring to TAFIRI to fill ten vacant positions. TAFIRI was established in 1983 to promote, conduct, and coordinate fisheries research in Tanzania, following the collapse of the East Africa Community (EAC) in 1977. The Institute comprises four Research Centres, located in Mwanza, Kigoma, Kyela, and Dar es Salaam, with an additional sub-station in Sota, Rorya District, Mara Region, operating under the Mwanza Centre.

Position: Senior Accounts Officer II (1 post) at Tanzania Fisheries Research Institute (TAFIRI).

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Advanced Diploma in Accountancy, Finance, Business Administration, or Commerce majoring in Accountancy or Finance, or equivalent qualifications from recognized institutions. Alternatively, Intermediate Certificate (Module D) offered by NBAA with a minimum of seven (7) years of working experience in a related field.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Authorize payments in accordance with financial acts and regulations.
  • Respond to audit queries.
  • Prepare revenue and expenditure reports as per financial regulations.
  • Generate reports on revenue collections.
  • Produce reports on income and expenditure estimates (Cash flow statements).
  • Maintain debtors and creditors records.
  • Keep records of Institute assets available in the relevant section.
  • Perform any other official duties assigned by the Supervisor.

Salary Scale: PGSS 8

Duty Station: TAFIRI Mwanza
