Salary: 60,000-70,000 Kenyan Shillings

Our client is a well-established entity in the construction sector seeking a proactive, self-driven, and experienced individual to assume the role of a Senior HR & Admin Officer.

The preferred candidate should be mature, resilient to challenges, well-versed in current labor regulations, and deeply passionate about effective people management.

The primary objective of this position is to oversee the comprehensive management and administration of the HR & Admin function within the company. This is aimed at ensuring seamless operations and the attainment of business objectives through a motivated workforce in strict compliance with employment labor laws.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in formulating and implementing HR policies and procedures, covering aspects such as working environment procedures, performance management, disciplinary actions, and leave and absence management. Communicate these to staff members.
  • Collaborate in the implementation of the staff performance management system.
  • Work closely with management to foster and sustain employer-employee relationships, thereby enhancing productivity, motivation, and morale.
  • Contribute to the development and execution of effective strategies for employee engagement and retention.
  • Review and evaluate human resources programs, systems, and procedures for relevance to business needs and cost-effectiveness.
  • Maintain accurate HR records and generate reports for management as required.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and best practices, providing recommendations for continuous improvement.
  • Provide guidance and support to supervisors and staff on HR-related matters, including performance management, employee relations, and conflict resolution.
  • Conduct training programs to enhance employee skills and cultivate a positive work culture.
  • Manage all staff welfare and employee relations matters, ensuring timely and satisfactory resolution of any issues to foster a harmonious working environment.
  • Develop strategies for effectively managing contract and casual employees.
  • Establish effective employee communication programs to ensure a well-informed organization.
  • Oversee Human Resources & Administration activities and plans.

Required Qualifications, Skills & Abilities:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resource Management.
  • Higher Diploma in Human Resources Management or its equivalent from a recognized professional body.
  • Membership in a recognized Human Resource professional body.
  • Minimum of 4 years’ progressive experience in HR.
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of labor laws and the Employment Act.
  • Experience in developing and implementing HR policies.
  • Desired experience in the construction industry.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Outstanding planning and follow-through ability.
  • Ability to successfully resolve conflicts and handle difficult situations.
  • Capability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to build productive and collaborative relationships with diverse stakeholders.
