Current Initiative:

Under the umbrella of a 5-year USAID-funded initiative named “Tuhifadhi Chakula,” TAHA is actively working to mitigate food loss and waste, thereby addressing climate-related impacts for the betterment of food security and livelihoods. The project concentrates on key value chains critical to Tanzania’s food security by tackling post-harvest handling challenges. The intervention areas encompass improving food handling, storage, and value addition at both producer and commercial levels, facilitating market access, advocating for policies reducing food loss, and strengthening local organizations’ capacity in post-harvest management.

Job Opening: Market Access Coordinator

Reporting to the Value Chain Development Manager and based in Arusha, Tanzania, TAHA is seeking a qualified and motivated Tanzanian for the position of Market Access Coordinator.

Responsibilities:

The Market Access Coordinator plays a pivotal role in developing and executing marketing strategies, facilitating market entry, and ensuring compliance with local and international standards. Key responsibilities include:

  1. Developing and implementing strategies to tap into domestic, regional (EAC, SADC, and COMESA), and international markets (Asia, Middle East, and Europe).
  2. Collaborating with partners to identify and cultivate a diverse market base for horticulture in different project areas.
  3. Supporting the development of postharvest management facility models for common use.
  4. Conducting Market Intelligence Surveys to identify horticultural product opportunities and disseminating findings to the sector.
  5. Promoting and conducting capacity building on the usage of a Marketing Intelligence System (MIS).
  6. Inputting TARIC with market information and promoting it to stakeholders for enhanced accessibility and usage.
  7. Developing market requirements guidelines for various markets (local, regional & international) and ensuring dissemination to farmers for streamlined market access.
  8. Providing periodic market trends to guide farmers on production and marketing plans.
  9. Offering periodic updates to inform buyers/off-takers about the availability of horticultural products.
  10. Coordinating and implementing practical models to connect farmers with available market opportunities.
  11. Collecting and analyzing market-driven data to inform stakeholders on various marketing aspects.
  12. Designing and ensuring the effective execution of capacity-building programs for farmers, processors, and traders.
  13. Collecting and packaging success stories and learnings for sharing within the Project.
  14. Participating in the establishment of data collection mechanisms and tools for monitoring and evaluation.
  15. Promoting and disseminating USAID-TCP’s Market Information System to value chain actors.
  16. Performing any other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications and skills

Degree LevelMaster’s degree or bachelor’s degree in business management, Marketing, Agribusiness and Agricultural Economics, Business Administration, Economics or any other related field.          
ExperienceAt least 5 years of experience working in Agricultural/Horticultural sector.
Key SkillsExcellent written and verbal communication skills. Good planning & coordination, management, and leadership skills. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build and maintain effective relationships with stakeholders.
