Job Summary:

As a Risk Officer, you will play a vital role in addressing daily requests for fraud checks on transactions and providing administrative support to minimize the use of fraudulent cards. This involves monitoring and investigating suspicious activity, processing card cancellations, reissues, account holds, and releases.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Operational and Risk Support

• Provide support and advice to relevant business units for enhancing the risk assessment and risk management framework.
• Assist in reviewing the efficiency and relevance of the company’s internal financial/non-financial controls and risk management systems.
• Conduct necessary fraud checks, responding to related questions and discussions promptly.
• Monitor fraud check requests daily, ensuring timely addressing of all questions and pursuit of outgoing messages requiring a response.
• Review new merchant requests for settlement, ensuring minimal errors or omissions and identifying issues that need more detailed responses on specific transactions.
• Monitor new client/matter and change process requests to ensure timely progress of new business intake request forms.
• Upload critical documents, such as signed copies of engagement letters, to the conflicts database.

2. Review and Analyze Transactions

• Review fraud filter alerts, process alerts, record and escalate issues, and notify relevant parties of fraudulent activity.
• Process cancellations and reissue requests, update status in related systems, and track orders.
• Initiate effective communications with customers, financial institutions, and cardholders for verification and chargeback handling.
• Daily review and disposition of transactions flagged for investigation.
• Daily processing and documentation of chargebacks.
• Identify, document, and communicate detected fraud trends, suspicious transaction characteristics, and patterns.
• Take appropriate action to identify and minimize the risk posed by fraud patterns and trends.
• Collaborate with customer service to address inquiries regarding investigations.
• Manage and respond to escalations from internal and external parties with urgency and effective communication.
• Adhere strictly to security protocols regarding company and customer data and related communications.

3. Reporting

• Generate reports on identified high-risk and potentially fraudulent accounts and/or transactions.
• Make recommendations for new rules and updates to mitigate fraud patterns.
• Prepare a chargebacks analysis report.

Education/Experience Needed:

• Bachelor’s degree in business administration, finance, accounting, or related fields.
• Minimum of 3 years’ proven experience as a risk personnel or in a similar role, preferably in the financial services industry.

Skills and Abilities Required:

• Knowledge of accepted accounting principles and practices, QuickBooks, ERP, Global card processing systems.
• Analytical and problem-solving skills, good time management, organization, and honesty.
• MS Office proficiency.
• Fluency in verbal and written English.
