Masasi Town Council is one of nine (9) councils located in Mtwara region. Masasi town is the headquarters of Masasi District, a district that has two councils namely the Town Council and Masasi District Council. The Town Council was established in July 2012 after splitting it from the Council of Masasi District. It has a total of 14 wards namely Mkuti,Jida,Mtandi,Chanikanguo,Migongo,Mkomaindo,Nyasa,Napupa,Temeke,Sululu,Marika,Mwenge Mvoika,Mumbaka and Matawale.
Masasi Town Council is bordered by Nanyumbu Council to the south and Masasi District Council to the east and north. Masasi is a growing daily town, so it is a great place for investment as all essential services are available and it is also a town that is easily accessible from Mtwara, Lindi, Daresalaam, Ruvuma, Mbeya and Coast Regions.
