Ministry of Health Tanzania Hiring Contract Information Officer

The Ministry of Health Tanzania has the responsibility of overseeing the professions of Doctors, Dentists, and Allied Health Professionals in the country through the Medical Council of Tanganyika (MCT) established under Section 4 of the Medical, Dental and Allied Health Professionals Act (Chapter No. 152). The primary goal of the Council is to ensure that the community receives quality and safe services from professionals. In an effort to strengthen and enhance healthcare services in the country, the Ministry plans to hire one (01) Information Officer jobs at Wizara ya Afya Tanzania on an eleven-month contract.

Qualifications and Responsibilities for each cadre are specified as follows:

Applicant Qualifications:

The candidate should hold a Bachelor’s degree in journalism or a related field from recognized government institutions and have a minimum of three (3) years of experience.

Job and Responsibilities:

As a Grade II Information Officer, the individual will be responsible for all professional requirements related to expediting communication between the Council and professionals/clients.

  1. Promoting Council policies, activities, and programs.
  2. Collecting and writing news.
  3. Planning and implementing the Council’s communication strategy with the community.
  4. Conducting discussions with citizens and media on various Council-related issues.
  5. Producing and distributing documents such as brochures, articles, and journals.
  6. Coordinating information for the press.
  7. Capturing photographs of all Council-related events and managing the library and references.
  8. Collecting various statistics.
  9. Executing other duties assigned by the Employer.

Application Instructions:

  1. Successful applicants will be assigned work in Dodoma (Council Headquarters).
  2. All certificates must be verified by the Court or a lawyer.
  3. General Qualifications for an Applicant:
    • Must be a Tanzanian citizen.
    • Should be between 18 and 50 years old.
    • Should not be a government employee or an employee of Religious Organizations’ Hospitals whose salary is paid by the Government.
    • Must meet the qualifications and professionalism according to the Public Service Recruitment Secretariat Circular No. 1 of 2009.

All applications must be accompanied by:

  1. A copy of the Birth Certificate.
  2. Copies of Form Four/Six and Diploma/Degree certificates according to the specified profession.
  3. For those who studied abroad or in foreign curricula, attach an authentication certificate from the National Examination Council of Tanzania (NECTA).
  4. Copies of Academic Certificates (Certificate and Transcripts). Additionally, for those who studied abroad, attach an authentication certificate from TCU.
  5. Curriculum Vitae (CV).
  6. Two recent passport-size photos.
  7. A copy of the National Identity Card (NIDA)/NIDA Identification Number.
  8. If your names differ in your certificates compared to the Birth Certificate and NIDA, ensure you submit an affidavit of names (Deed Pool) from the Registrar of Oaths, registered by the Registrar of Deeds, Ministry of Lands, Housing, and Human Settlements Development.
