The Role:

The Business and Human Rights Coordinator is responsible for coordinating ActionAid’s engagements on business and human rights, including but not limited to a United Nations (UN) Binding Treaty on the activities of transnational corporations (TNCs) and other business enterprises with respect to human rights. The role will work closely with ActionAid country offices and Global Secretariat (GS) staff, primarily the Combatting Modern Slavery, Fair Green and Global and That’s Mine project teams, both of which have deliverables related to business and human rights. This role leads in preparation, coordination and engagement with the Binding Treaty process and management of partnerships with the Feminists for a Binding Treaty and Treaty Alliance coalitions. The role supports the realisation of a shared vision for ActionAid’s work on business and human rights, aligned with our system change for economic justice and climate justice priorities, with women’s rights and feminist alternatives at the centre.

Who we’re looking for:

You should possess a Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline, have substantial experience in a similar capacity, especially in a multi-country context, and (Human Rights, Law or others). You should have significant knowledge of business and human rights as well as relevant experience. Additionally, you should be very knowledgeable about feminist issues pertaining to business, human rights, and corporate responsibility. It would be ideal to have understanding of and expertise with the UN Binding Treaty on Business and Human Rights procedure.

A minimum of five years of project management experience is required; knowledge of the Global South is preferable. Additionally, you should have at least five years of experience in policy advocacy, preferably at the regional and international levels.

You should be a master communicator and writer. Additionally, you should be able to advocate for causes in national and international policy arenas using networking and negotiation abilities. You should be able to work with colleagues from various ActionAid countries to organize and facilitate projects, as well as form partnerships and collaborate with (global) coalitions and movements of civil society. English proficiency in both written and spoken form; knowledge of additional languages is preferred.
