Function

Heifer understands that communication is essential to achieving its vision, purpose, goals, and objectives. Effective communication both internally and externally is essential for Heifer International to become more inventive, flexible, and responsive to the demands of its stakeholders. Heifer’s status as a leading agricultural company and a relevant, dynamic partner is strengthened through strategic communication. In order to do this, Heifer International uses communication as a tactic to enlist the assistance of key stakeholders, including decision-makers (national and provincial governments), partners, donors, opinion leaders, and clients (farmers).

Any of the following nations could host the position: Senegal, Ethiopia, Kenya, Nigeria, Tanzania, Malawi, Uganda, Rwanda, or Zambia.

Responsibilities & Deliverables

A. Internal Communications (60%)

  • In order to involve all important internal stakeholders—from the front lines to national, regional, and international audiences—implement the internal communications plan for the region.
  • Oversee the region’s internal communications channels, such as the intranet, newsletters, periodicals, publications, films, messaging apps, and town halls.
  • Create messaging and information related to ongoing initiatives, noting important project impacts and success stories for internal distribution.
  • Find and encourage opportunities to launch campaigns, engage in engagement activities, and raise awareness throughout the internal network of Heifer International and the Africa area.
  • Encourage the development of staff communication ability so they may equip employees with the know-how to interact with clients both inside and outside the company in an efficient and clear manner.
  • Important internal platform data and statistics are tracked and reported on in order to promote ongoing development.

B. Corporate Presentations, Templates and Designs (10%)

  • Using PowerPoint, Canva, and related design tools, create excellent corporate presentations, graphic designs, and other templates to support the SVP Africa region and promote efficient communications in the area.
  • Make that all designs, templates, and presentations adhere to the corporate standards and policies of Heifer Communication.
  • Find and encourage chances to raise Heifer’s brand awareness through appropriate networks and high-profile events.

C. Events Management (20%)

  • Oversee internal communications events and engagement initiatives to guarantee excellent experiences from planning to post-event evaluation, guaranteeing dependable, superior service throughout the event lifecycle.
  • Oversee all facets of internal event coordination and planning, adhere to tight deadlines, and resolve any problems that may come up during the event.
  • Help with the internal and external planning of regional events in Africa, particularly with regard to graphic design and internal communication, making sure that important events are efficiently conveyed within.

D. Social Media (10%)

  • Encourage audience traffic to and engagement on Heifer’s internal and external social media channels through supporting the graphic design of content.
  • Encourage the development of innovative social media campaigns, content, and designs on pertinent, current, and new platforms.

Minimum Requirements

  • Experience in digital, media, communications, or similar fields ranging from six to eight years.
  • Proven ability to use Canva, PowerPoint, and related technologies to create high-quality corporate presentations, graphic designs, and templates.
  • Proven ability to write content that is appealing, understandable, and succinct, as well as the capacity to effectively communicate and express technical concepts and expertise to a variety of audiences.
  • Outstanding time-management, multitasking, and detail-oriented organizational abilities.
  • In establishing and preserving fruitful commercial partnerships.
  • Capacity to remain composed under duress and act swiftly when necessary.
  • Familiarity with the field of development, particularly with the activities of bilateral and multilateral organizations, INGOs, and others.
  • Expertise in the transfer of knowledge.
