Job Title: Transport Officer And Office Assistance at CAMFED (4 Posts)

Accountable to: Administration Officer

Job Purpose:

Under the supervision of the Administration Officer, the Transport Officer and Office Assistant play a crucial role in driving office vehicles, maintaining records, and ensuring scheduled maintenance. The Transport Officer is responsible for inspecting country vehicles daily, ensuring cleanliness, and verifying they are in optimal working condition.

Specific Accountabilities:

  • Drive office vehicles in various districts in Tanzania.
  • Implement defensive driving practices and provide safety briefings to passengers before each trip.
  • Maintain vehicle maintenance records and ensure routine maintenance is conducted as scheduled.
  • Keep accurate and up-to-date records of trip sheets, fuel purchases, incident reports, accident reports, vehicle condition reports, and other requested records.
  • Act as a positive role model while providing transportation services to staff.
  • Review staff car requests with the Administration Officer, finalizing/maintaining the schedule daily, and notifying of any deviations.
  • Inspect vehicles daily, reporting any damage or non-working issues promptly.
  • Dispatch program office documents/mails/items in Dodoma and conduct errands as assigned.
  • Process admin requisitions, support meeting preparations, and handle receptionist duties occasionally.
  • Perform office assistant duties, including photocopying, sorting, and collating office documents.
  • Ensure proper arrangement of the stationery store and all stationery stock.
  • Support office errands as assigned.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Person Specifications Essential:

  • Holders of at least Form IV Certificate.
  • Holder of a valid Class A, B, D, E driving license.
  • Must have a certificate from either VETA or the National Institute of Transportation (NIT).
  • Minimum five (5) years of driving experience from reputable organizations.
  • Fluent in both written and spoken English and Swahili languages.
  • Computer literate.
  • Able to work under pressure, flexible, and as part of a team.
  • Tanzanian citizen.
