Business Growth Manager Africa

 

Reporting to the Managing Director in Africa and employed by our entity in Kigali (Rwanda), you are responsible for identifying business growth opportunities with prospective customers or existing accounts at executive level, including mainly Governments and Utilities.

Based on your expertise in building long-term relationships and your understanding of technological solutions, you define and execute our business development strategy in the region, and you address all complex opportunities targeting smart metering/grid and Smart city projects.

 

Main duties and responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain thorough knowledge of our company Smart City and Smart Grid solutions (devices, Network and Outcome services).
  • Think out of the box and find new creative ways to promote the company and to penetrate the new growing market of Smart City.
  • Perform incisive and insightful market and competitive research to develop existing business and new high-level client relationships.
  • Act as the customers trusted advisor and develop a long-term customer relationship at executive and government official level.
  • Understand client needs and tailor solutions through consultative approach.
  • Prepare bids offers for clients working in a multi-disciplinary team, follow the execution of the projects and take care of the post project business evolution by building an upsell pipeline.
  • Participate to tradeshows and events related to Smart Cities to increase Itron’s visibility.
  • Generate and manage leads, grow existing relationships, maintain an accurate, detailed opportunity list, and develop an active customer-base along our long sales cycles.
  • Utilize Salesforce.com tool to ensure standard processes during all sales stages.
  • Develop and keep alive a pipeline of opportunities to build long term forecast.

Skillset and experience

Mandatory:

  • Strong experience in Business development, investigating new markets, generating new leads, building long-term relationships for long-sales cycle business, closing new agreements and projects.
  • Coming from a technology industry in which you advise on complex solutions (sensors, software, and services) to enable organizations to improve their daily operations and long-term performances.
  • Experience in an international environment, dealing with various stakeholders (C-level, funding organizations, public organizations, politicians, etc.)
  • Fluent English and French skills are mandatory.
  • Driving license.
  • Flexibility to travel across Africa (>50%).

Preferred:

  • Bachelor or master’s degree in technology or business administration.
  • Experience dealing with Utilities sector (Grid Management, Water Efficiency), municipalities, government entities and private sectors.
  • Experience with public tenders.
  • Outstanding ability to convince others and to maintain effective business network.
  • Excellent team-spirit and communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.

  • Your employment contract and salary will be administered through the Kigali entity but remote working from other African countries may be considered.
