JOB ADVERTISEMENT: Finance & Administration/HR Coordinator – AIRD, Tanzania Program at African Initiatives for Relief and Development (AIRD).

The African Initiatives for Relief and Development (AIRD) is a non-political, non-religious, and non-profit NGO committed to providing operational technical support in supply chain, logistics, and infrastructure. Collaborating with relief and development organizations focused on disaster-affected, poverty-stricken, and development-oriented areas, AIRD partners with UN Agencies, international and national donor organizations, and governments.

AIRD places a strong emphasis on zero tolerance for sexual exploitation and abuse, harassment, and discrimination, and selected candidates will undergo background checks.

AIRD’s Tanzania Program is currently seeking qualified national personnel for the position of Finance & Administration/HR Coordinator.

Position Summary:

Reporting to the Country Program Director (CPD) or Officer in Charge (OIC) during their absence, the Finance & Administration/HR Coordinator will be responsible for overseeing finance, administration, and personnel management. This includes budget management and monitoring, timely reporting to donors and AIRD Management at HQ, staff recruitment, internal/external audits, and ensuring compliance with AIRD’s Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and donor agreements.

General Duties:

  1. Manage program budgets to facilitate expenditure control.
  2. Review and control bank and cash transactions to minimize misappropriation risks.
  3. Monitor budget balances and update CPD on expenditures for appropriate actions.
  4. Provide advice to staff on AIRD HR policies and ensure adherence.
  5. Reconcile and review monthly payrolls before CPD’s approval.
  6. Administer service contracts for security, internet, and premises maintenance.
  7. Supervise staff under direct supervision.

Primary Duties:


  1. Prepare and submit monthly financial management statements.
  2. Review bank reconciliations and conduct surprise cash counts.
  3. Prepare quarterly donor financial reports.
  4. Review expenditures against approved budgets.
  5. Update accounting system and chart of accounts.
  6. Attend to internal/external audits and assist auditors through the process.


  1. Coordinate staff recruitment and orientation.
  2. Support staff and monitor performance management.
  3. Coordinate staff separation and final dues payments.
  4. Maintain effective staff records and filing system.
  5. Keep track of leave records and balances.
  6. Process monthly payroll on time.
  7. Address employee relations issues in consultation with CPD.


  1. Ensure effective office operations and proper processes.
  2. Manage utilities effectively.


  1. Fluent in English (written and spoken).
  2. Master’s degree in a relevant field.
  3. Professional designation in Accounting or Internal Auditing (ACCA, CPA, CFA) is an added advantage.
  4. Minimum 7 years’ experience in Finance and Accounting, HR qualification is a plus.
  5. Audit and reporting skills with proficiency in QuickBooks and ERP.
  6. Familiarity with taxation laws and Tanzania Revenue Authority regulations.
  7. Results-driven, able to prioritize tasks under pressure.
  8. Experience with international development partners and NGOs is an asset.
